Playpens and play yards: dimensions and fit

Compare the assembled footprint, doorway access and the manufacturer’s intended use before choosing a playpen or play yard. Similar names do not mean two models have the same construction or permitted uses.

Dimensions and fit

Write down the relevant measurements before comparing products. Distinguish overall dimensions from usable space and folded dimensions. A photograph cannot show whether an item fits your particular room, furniture or equipment.

Information to check

Ask for the exact model instructions and a list of included panels, fasteners and floor components.
Compare the assembled and folded dimensions with the space available, including the route through the room.
Use only the layout and accessories specified for that model; do not infer sleeping suitability from a padded base or a photograph.
