Children’s play tents: setup and inspection

Updated 27 October 2026

Before buying a play tent, compare its assembled size, intended setting and instructions with the available space. A pop-up design does not establish suitability for camping or bad weather.

Setup and inspection

Read the complete instructions before assembly. Identify the supplied parts and the intended attachment or locking points. Stop if a component is missing, damaged or does not fit as described, and contact the retailer rather than improvising a repair.

Information to check

  • Check the actual dimensions, included poles or connectors and assembly instructions.
  • Ask whether indoor or outdoor use is specified and what weather limitations apply.
  • Confirm the stated cleaning, drying and folding method before packing it away.

Do not assume that a fabric is weatherproof or fire resistant without the manufacturer’s supporting information. Keep play tents away from heat and flames.
